Dissemination/Communication Plan. Period concerning the plan: 01.01.2018-31.12.2020.

2018

The plan concerning different dissemination/communication activities during three years of the project implementation is given. Scientific results are proposed to be disseminated in well-recognized bi-annual international conferences, such as European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM) and International Conference on Composite Materials (ICCM). Self-archiving of the main project results is planned within subject-based open-access repositories, such as ResearchGate and Zenodo. Two scientific publications in Q1-Q2 SCI journals and two popular scientific publications in popular scientific Latvian journals are foreseen. All data files obtained within the project are to be stored in centra…

Pilot action within the framework of the Mig-HealthCare project - implementation of community-based pilot studies addressing health inequalities of m…

2020

Abstract In the framework of the Mig-HealthCare project, a roadmap to community-based health care was developed including a toolbox and an algorithm. The Mig-HealthCare partners piloted parts of the roadmap in 8 EU countries. Piloting included actions on health promotion issues for migrants/refugees, mental health issues, non-communicable diseases, screening for breast and cervical cancer and vaccination issues. Two recommended practices were also piloted among migrants/refugees namely the 'circle of health' and health mentors while the Greek partner tested the developed algorithm in various health settings. All pilots were evaluated using common and pilot specific indicators for (a) approp…

12M Progress Report. Period concerning this report: 01.01.2018-31.12.2018.

2018

During the first year of the project the main purpose was to choose, purchase and develop investigated materials: epoxy resin and at least two carbon nanofillers (nanotubes, nanofibres and/or graphene). The most promising material solution and the most optimal processing route were chosen and reported. Then two sets of epoxy and NC specimens were developed during Mobilities#2-3 to partner organization, Institute for Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials (Portici, Italy). The test specimens of epoxy and NC were subjected to environmental ageing: water absorption at 70 °C until equilibrium water content and heating at 70 °C, then freezing at ap. -20 °C to evaluate the most environmentally sta…

Dissemination/Communication Report. Period concerning this report: 01.01.2018-31.12.2018.

2018

During the first year of the project implementation different dissemination/communication activities were carried out. First scientific results were presented on the 18th European Conference on Composite Materials (ECCM). For the dissemination of information among general public professional FACEBOOK profile was developed. Additionally, for better dissemination of project scientific results project profile “Environmental effects on physical properties of smart composites and fibre-reinforced plastics modified by carbonaceous nanofillers for structural applications” was developed at open-access database ZENODO (www.zenodo.org) under community POSTDOC-Latvia providing open-access to all publi…

Introducing Problem Based Learning (PBL) in Textile Engineering Education and Assessing its Influence on Six Sigma Project Implementation

2012

The purpose of this paper is to explore the methodology that has adopted to implement PBL in textile engineering education at “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu (LBUS) which also highlights its potential influence on Six Sigma projects that has implemented in a textile manufacturing industry. The function of both PBL and Six Sigma approaches is to solve the problems by executing projects in a systematic way. Structurally, they are quite similar in nature. Many academic institutes around the world are currently introducing PBL to enhance the quality of higher education. On the other hand manufacturing units are trying to shorten their Six Sigma project duration, but interconnection between b…

Managing expert knowledge in water network expansion project implementation

2021

[EN] The implementation of expansion projects of water networks supplying growing cities is deemed to be a complex decision-making problem involving both technical aspects and expert knowledge. Management and control processes must rely on experts in the field whose know-how must be coupled with techniques able to deal with the natural subjectivity that affects input evaluations. Given the presence of many decision-making elements, the choice of proper hydraulic technical parameters may be linked to the main aspects of analysis requiring formal expert evaluation. In this contribution, the simulation of hydraulic indicators is integrated with a multi-criteria approach able to eventually dete…

Dissenting voices in a consenting village: lessons from implementation of free, prior and informed consent at a REDD+ pilot in Tanzania

2020

Free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) is a key institutional tool in meeting social safeguards. Its implementation ensures respect of the local people's rights in an intervention. This paper presents a case of FPIC implementation at a REDD+ pilot site. Data were obtained through key informant interviews and focus group discussions with proponents and village members of the Lindi REDD+ project. Findings indicate that the inclusive approach to FPIC by taking the consultations to the hamlet level did not deliver a flawless process. The consent decision was reached by a majority vote, not consensus. There was some dissent, prompting the early establishment of project implementation committees…
